Pray to End

Late-Term Abortion

Eternal God, You have revealed Yourself as the Father of all Life. We praise You for the Fatherly care which You extend to all creation, and especially to us, made in Your image and likeness.
Father, extend Your hand of protection to those threatened by abortion, and save them from its destructive power. Give Your strength to all mothers and fathers that they may never give in to the fears that may tempt them to facilitate abortions.
Bless our families and bless our land, that we may have the joy of welcoming and nurturing the life of which You are the source and the Eternal Father. Amen.

  • Abortion is legal through all 9 months of pregnancy in Albuquerque.
  • Albuquerque is known as the LATE TERM ABORTION CAPITAL of the country.  Women from all over the United States travel to Albuquerque’s Southwestern Women’s Options to get abortions in their fourth through ninth months of pregnancy.
  • The unborn baby at 8 weeks responds to touch and as early as 20 weeks (5 months) gestation experiences pain (Dr. Maureen Condit, Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine; Steven Calvin, MD, University of Minnesota's Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women's Health).
  • Abortions at 18 weeks and beyond involve greater risk to the mother than carrying the pregnancy to term.  An abortion informed-consent form used by Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque acknowledges this, yet abortion proponents claim that late term abortion is necessary for the health of the mother.
  • 33% of women who get late-term abortions say one of the main reasons for getting the abortion is they were afraid to tell their parents or partners.Women who seek late-term abortions are more likely to be under the age of 18, poor, minorities and feel they are lacking support from family and friends to care for their baby.
  • New Mexico is one of 15 states that currently uses state tax dollars to fully fund abortions for women who have NM Medicaid. In 2011 alone 1,786 abortions were paid for in NM by Medicaid costing taxpayers over 1.1 million dollars.
